ASK!

“Do I have to always get everything I want?” cried Jill to his Mum one beautiful morning.

Jill, born to parents who always provided whatever he needed at all times couldn’t understand why it had to be that way. Valli and Hill were two dear friends of Jill who have had to work for everything they ever got. Born to single parents who were carried away with the happenings of life and didn’t care about them, they decided to make it big for themselves and their unborn children.

Being in the same college, Valli and Hill had jobs which they went to everyday to bring in money to enable them survive in school. Being parents to themselves, they could get anything they wanted, anytime they wanted to, anywhere they wanted. Jill on the other hand just needed to ask and it would be given to him, many-a-times the best would be provided.

Carried away in his thoughts, Jill kept replaying his parents words to him over and over and over again. “Jill, we love you very much and you are God’s special gift to us. Before you were conceived, your mum and I made up our minds that when you are born, you will have all you need while we are alive and even when we are gone to be with the Lord. We planned ahead, we bought everything we could in your name. We made great investments in your name. I remember your mum working three jobs to bring in the money for us to build this house. This is in your name as well Jill. We sacrificed a lot to start a company from scratch, because we wanted you to have it all when you are of age. As long as we are alive and healthy, all you owe us is to just ASK for whatever you need. IT will be PROVIDED”. His father’s voice sounded so clear as though he was there with him.

“Jill honey, don’t hesitate to ASK. You are special and most importantly you are different” came another voice. He recognized the voice, it was that of his mum. She had just discovered he went to look for a job to be like his friends – Valli and Hill and was unhappy that he didn’t ASK and instead, wanted to be like his friends.

Remembering how furious he was when he left home, he quickly hurried home. Meeting him on the stairs were his Parents, hand in hand looking on as their son rushed out of the car and ran into their embrace in uncontrollable tears. ~~~ Fictional

Looking at the parable of the Lost son, I ask myself, who was really lost amongst the two brothers? If I may ask you as well, who was lost? You will quickly tell me the younger one who went away with all of his inheritance into a far country. You are right on the one hand and you are wrong on the other hand as well.

Oh how possible to be in a particular place and still be lost. You may ask me how? I’ll tell you.

The younger brother recognized how rich his father was and decided, I will no longer live in hunger when my father has more than enough. He returned back to the one who had always provided for him before he decided to provide for himself. He understood what it was to have all his needs met at the snap of a finger.

On the other hand, Big Bros was with Dad at home, never asking, not even knowing that he owned everything. The only time he ever ventured to ask, he did it angrily.

The son said, ‘Look how many years I’ve stayed here serving you, never giving you one moment of grief, but have you ever thrown a party for me and my friends? Then this son of yours who has thrown away your money on whores shows up and you go all out with a feast!’ His father said, ‘Son, you don’t understand. You’re with me all the time, and everything that is mine is yours” (Luke 15:29-31 – MSG)

All he needed to do was ASK…

Living in a world where various people have various needs, there is the tendency to be in plenty and still be lost just like Big Bros.

I can’t remember who was ministering now but what i remember is that, under that ministration, the minister said “Everyday you sit and all you do is complain and wish. There is a lot of money flying over your heads every second of every minute. I challenge you to call it down.” I didn’t understand at first. Later I solved the puzzle. I then understood better.

What is it that you need, all you really have to do is ASK (Matthew 7:7). Which ever style you adopt to ASK – sing, pray, talk, whatever it is, that’s fine.

God has stationed “helpers” in every phase of our lives. They could be in the form of friends, family, total strangers, our bosses, our colleagues or even our enemies (if you have any).

“Honey, do not hesitate to ASK. You are special and most importantly, you are different.”

God bless you.

New Day

Years come and go,
Your daily breath we drink.
Each year with all its troubles,
Your strength we have to scale through.

Months come and go,
Millions come and go as well.
Our eyes you always open
To behold yet another.

Days come and go,
Filled with hopes and dreams.
But some come and go
The next they can’t see.

Thankful for today we are,
Thankful for this month we are,
Thankful for this year we are,
Your goodness we are yet to fathom.

WAIT FOR IT

Born to parents who are in the academics, discipline and mentorship were like tea and bread offered as breakfast to a little child. I remember growing up, our first reading manuals were religious magazines. My parents who were also pastors had this strong belief that if you could read the Bible (KJV) very well and fluently, you can read any other book.

My parents are our role model, they taught us, disciplined us when needed and most of all loved us very much. Being all girls, my parents believed that whatever a male child could do, the female child can do as well. I remember when I was asked what I wanted to be when I grew up? Amongst all my classmates that day, I was the only one who wanted to be a lecturer like my dad. It even earned me the nickname – Prof, which some still call me till today. I was laughed at, but I wasn’t moved. Where that boldness came from, I didn’t know.

When asked what happened in school that day, I told my parents and siblings about my wanting to be a lecturer like my dad. My dad just smiled and said that’s beautiful. Life continued.

When I finished Junior Secondary School, I didn’t have a clue of whether I was going to be in the science field or art. I just showed my dad my results and he decided based on my best grades to go to the science. On getting to the final year of Senior Secondary School, after listening to what a lot of my friends wanted to be, I wanted to be so many things, hence lacking direction and losing focus.

I loved to write, speak and design. I was involved in writing and speaking competitions and always did very well, so I was counselled to read something in that line… What on earth am I going to say I want to read? There were no courses like writing or speaking then. I met someone who told me a lot about Architecture. For the first time, I found peace and direction. Off I went to University and graduated from Architecture.

It was at the point of going to University that my dad told me that I can only be a teacher when I know what I want to teach. As a child I thought it was all magic.

Imagine the long route to become the lecturer I wanted to be. Note – I am not a lecturer yet, I’m still climbing the ladder but see all the journey to one dream I had as a little child.

This is to encourage someone. What’s that dream of yours? It may take a long road to achieve it, keep climbing, you are nearer than when you began. There are numerous routes to the top of any mountain. What remains constant is CLIMBING till you get to the top. Whether you climb from the side, front or back… you still have to CLIMB.

Is it a miracle you are looking to God for, when it seems frustrating you are one step closer to it.

Put it in writing, because it is not yet time for it to come true. But the time is coming quickly, and what I show you will come true. It may seem slow in coming, but wait for it; it will certainly take place, and it will not be delayed.” Habakkuk 2:3 (GNT)

There are many “kill-joys” (as i like to call them) that would want to talk you out of waiting or pursuing. They disguise as friends and family. They only paint out the negativity of why you are waiting. Envision the positivity in the end and you will gladly wait and be happy you did.

Dear Friend, It will come true. Wait for it!!!

God bless you.

A MIRACLE?

Waking up one beautiful Friday morning, prepared for work. I went to my car, started it, lo and behold it wasn’t starting. Of course the next thing as a Jesus baby I am is to pray. I prayed but it still didn’t start. Does it mean God can’t cause a miracle? Well as I sat thinking, I was led to call the company that usually service my car.

I picked up my Phone and put a call through to them, they sent someone to my house. As they were checking everything checkable, I had the strong urge to pray. Oh really? When I am supposed to open my eyes wide to see what they are doing? How faithless I was in the technician.

OK then! I prayed, this time around it was for God to cause them to find a solution to whatever the problem was and not create another problem. Cause them to be honest enough to tell me what the true problem is and not be like the typical mechanics.

Heaven hears, they searched and narrowed down to an electrical problem. He honestly told me, “Call the person who did what was now my problem because he knows exactly where it is. If we call our electrician, he would end up going in circles.”

Why this epistle? She has come again, yes I have oh.

We should know when to draw the line between Physical Problems and Spiritual Solutions. We should know when it’s a miracle we are expecting and when we should prepare ourselves for it.

When you don’t know what you are fighting, how do you fight?

Sometimes we have so much faith that we spend it on the wrong needs. I usually tell myself, Faith is like a currency, know when to spend it and where. Don’t spend it for the wrong thing and at the wrong place and end up disappointed when you don’t get what you want.

I needed to call the mechanic first, then have faith in God to get a proper diagnosis from them.

Read through the stories of Jesus in Scriptures, everyone that got a miracle had a specific problem. Find out what the exact problem is and ask for help. God sends help most of the times through your neighbour. God wouldn’t have come down to fix the problem for me… if HE did, I definitely wouldn’t be writing this.

God bless you.

WHAT’S YOUR REAL IDENTITY?

A young boy and his parents lived in a small town where things were quite as simple as can be. Living in a home where both parents were scientist and could manipulate it as they so wish, he began to pick up some few things.

When interviewed on how he learnt to do some things he did. He simply said;

“When I was born, my father said I looked so much like him and right there he said, “my son, you would be complete me by learning who I am, what I can do and how I do what I do”. He said I had to resemble him in other areas not just facially. So I discovered that every-time I sat or go around with my dad I grew and became more and more like him”.

Finally, to close the interview he said. “As you can see, I am still growing. Therefore as long as I grow and learn from him, I will always be a version of Him”.

Looking at the story of this young boy though fictional, it shows us that he knew who he was, he knew what he is meant to be and how he is meant to operate. I discovered in scriptures this exact same scenario and I can say Scriptures is loaded with beautiful truths and Yes, it is very complete.

God spoke: “Let us make human beings in our image, make them reflecting our nature so they can be responsible for the fish in the sea, the birds in the air, the cattle, And, yes, Earth itself, and every animal that moves on the face of Earth.” God created human beings; he created them godlike, Reflecting God’s nature. He created them male and female. Genesis 1:26-27(MSG)

Does this speak to someone?

When God created the whole world and all things (except humans), he did by speaking the WORD. The WORD (Jesus) went forth and caused them to be.

When He was to create you and I, he sat with the WORD and the Holy Spirit and formed us, he WORKED (the very first work). We are called his workmanship, he paid so much attention to every detail as a porter would to his clay, spent time to make us exactly like him.

He said “…REFLECTING OUR NATURE…”Identity 2

Whose nature are you reflecting?

Your father or your mother?

Who made them?

WHO ARE YOU?

I want you to know that you dated back to the beginning, you are His image, SPEAK the Word and let things be… He has kept you in charge of all, even the EARTH. So today, pick up a mirror and look at the person in it and tell him/her straight up – “YOUR ARE GODLIKE. You were design with the God-nature. Start behaving and living as one.”

Stop thinking and crying. Start SPEAKING!!!

Speak to yourself and situations around you. Your mouth was designed to speak the Word and the WORD brings life.

YOU ARE GODLIKE – that’s the way he made you.

God bless you.

P.S. Babies do the most amazing thing in front of a mirror. Hehehe.

March

March, oh my March
How I have waited your arrival.
Majestically you awoke
To reveal your freshness.

March, oh my March
So much I have to do;
But each day I’ll take as it comes
To fulfil all I have outlined.

March, oh my March
Open up your sweet mouth
And let your goodness within
Drop down your lips.

March, oh my March
How I have waited your arrival
‘Cause God, great God
His blessings has released.

March, oh my March
Hand in hand we walk,
Day by day we grow,
To be the best we will be.

February

As February slowly fades,
The curtains are slowly pulled down;
So much we planned to achieve,
Not a quarter-mile we have gone.

For breath our nostrils draw freely,
For distance our legs never cease to travel;
For things our hands never fail to grasp,
We have not much to say than Thank You.

For goals yet unachievable,
Faith we have to see them come to pass;
For as it dawns to a bright new day,
Your strength our feeble bodies receive.

We patiently wait to see the light,
As the curtains are raised to reveal it’s brightness;
Oh March, how I’ve longed to see you,
‘Cause your presence keeps me going.
