LIFE CHALLENGES: STEPPING STONES OR CONCRETE WALLS?

After spending over 3 decades on earth, I can boldly say that I have had my fair share of life’s challenges. Different stages of growth have specially packaged and customized periods of test.

At first, I would throw tantrums, fuss excessively and cry my heart out. At other times, I would look for who to blame in my search for cheap relief.

Unfortunately, this lasted longer than it should have. Thankfully, change came when I met Jesus. Not the Jesus you mention when you receive a bad news. Or the Jesus you claim so as to let others know that you are a card-carrying Christian. I met Jesus and willingly let Him into my heart as Lord, Saviour, Lover, and King.

After my encounter with Him, the challenges did not reduce in intensity, but I did not stagger under their weight any more. Through the word of God (Bible), He prepares me for what is ahead. Through His colleague (Holy Spirit) He ministers sweet peace to my heart.

I am no longer afraid of life’s furnace of fire; the Trinity IS with me.

Then King Nebuchadnezzar was astonished; and he rose in haste and spoke, saying to his counselors, “Did we not cast three men bound into the midst of the fire?” They answered and said to the king, “True, O king.” “Look!” he answered, “I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire; and they are not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.”

Daniel 3:24-25 NKJV

N.B: If you are tired of the burden of care, let Jesus come into your heart. No need to bear it alone. Just say, “Jesus, I really need you in my life. Please come in today and take over. Thank you”

BLC Active Training

Hello Beautiful,

How have you been? I mean, how has your health been? Are you taking great care of yourself? Do you know that to fulfill God’s purpose on earth, you need to be healthy? 3 John 1:2 tells us that as we prosper in every other area of our lives, we need to prosper in our health.

From experience, I have found out that most Christian women don’t pay attention to their health. This could be because they are so busy paying attention to the family or other things. But we all know that every woman has a great role to play in the home and in the kingdom.

With this been our vision, we are on a mission to educate and support other women so we all can start paying attention to this body God bought so expensively as the bible tells us.

Have you forgotten that your body is now the sacred temple of the Spirit of Holiness, who lives in you? You don’t belong to yourself any longer, for the gift of God, the Holy Spirit, lives inside your sanctuary. You were God’s expensive purchase, paid for with tears of blood, so by all means, then, use your body to bring glory to God!

– 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (TPT)

With that I invite you to a sustainable healthy lifestyle training tagged “EAT MORE TO GAIN LESS”

Here we will be trained by a season food scientist and you’ll also belong to an accountability and support group know as the BLC ACTIVE GROUP. This is a private group and only open to 20 women.

The training cost has been heavily discounted from ₦10,000 per person to ₦3,000 per person. However, for the first 15 women, we would be paying ₦1,000 for you and you pay the balance of ₦2,000.

Kindly follow this link to register and for further instructions.

THE PUSH WE ALL NEED

Some years ago, I used to work in a particular school. The school administrator was known to never keep to agreement. Many people complained about this. In fact, any where you find two or more staff together, they were most likely discussing the issue of the administrator.

He made rules on the go and demanded for unrealistic commitments from staff. The environment was toxic and filled with pretense. Personally, my salary was never complete at the end of each month (without explanation or offense). Yet, I still remained an employee there.

One major reason why I remained there was because my neighbor, at home, was one of the oldest and most senior staff member there. I felt she could intervene for me. I went to her office, recounted everything and she promised to “talk” to Oga.

A month later, I received a set of instructions via phone call. The caller gave me a list of duties that were not part of my job description. At that point, I was already overwhelmed with duties and could not afford any more. When I reacted, she said the order was from “Oga”. I marched to his office but met his absence. I explained what I wanted to his secretary but she said her Oga never gave such instructions. I showed her my call log. She said the number was not familiar and advised that I call the number again. In her presence, the phone rang out several times. Then I knew something was fishy.

I decided to go report to my “neighbour”. As I walked to her office, I felt led to try the number one last time. Lo and behold, the phone was ringing on her desk. It belonged to her. She had made the call.

That morning, I resigned.

For me, her betrayal was the push I needed to wake up and leave that environment.

There are some situations that you are not supposed to endure. Some were allowed to jolt you into reality. Some ugly situations occur to make you uncomfortable in your comfort zone so you can aim for better.

We all need a little push sometimes, else, we may never know the potentials that lie within.

N.B: Leaving that place spurred me to go for 3 higher degrees which qualified me to apply for a better job. Today, I work where I always wanted to work.

THE HARD, BUT BEST ‘YES’!

I’ve been through some PHASES and JUNCTIONS in life where I am to take a decision, and it appears more easy and convenient to say NO. Many times, when I have to view with my ‘myopic lens’, the direction of ‘NO’ appears more attractive to me, than the direction of ‘YES’.

But deep down in my heart, the TRUTH, never leaves me. My conscience that is been awakened by the Holy Spirit, would not let me rest, as it keeps piercing my heart, and turning it to the RIGHT direction.

At times, when I go to the Lord in prayers, and He gives a ‘YES’ on some of these issues, I often struggle with it, but in the end, I know I’ve got to SUBMIT!

On few occasions, I find myself asking: “Lord, why do I have to be the one to go through ‘THIS AND THAT’?“….And I hear Him whisper: “I already prepared the ‘BEST’ for you, and I don’t want you to miss it.”

By the grace of God, I’ve never had cause to regret following the Lord WHOLEHEARTEDLY… Instead, I always look back and have cause to be thankful for making me take the ‘BEST PATH’!

My friend:

  • Even when it doesn’t make sense to the natural man,
  • Even when the other side appears ‘greener’,
  • Even when friends seem to be succeeding on a different ‘path’,
  • Even when it appears as if you are ‘left behind’,
  • Even when it appears you are all alone,
  • Even when it appears that you have to bury all the long years of your personal plan just like that,
  • Even if it means you have to give up some of your well crafted ambitions,
  • Even if it will cost you a LITTLE MORE…
    JUST SAY, YES LORD!

In our journey here on earth as pilgrims, knowing fully well that there is ONE who knows it ALL, and CAN NEVER LIE; the most important thing is letting THAT ONE (GOD) lead and direct you in ALL YOUR WAYS!

Getting to hear God by yourself and for yourself is KEY! Receiving your CONVICTION directly FROM GOD (in the place of personal consistent prayers and studying the Word with a pure and open heart) is something you must never joke with if you must navigate this life SUCCESSFULLY AND VICTORIOUSLY!

As long as you are sure about that leading from God in that ‘direction’; My dear, JUST TRUST AND OBEY! I have come to understand that most times, GOD’S WILL may not appear attractive at the beginning, but when we FOLLOW Him, even if with tears at the beginning; in the end, we get to understand the ‘WHY’ and will be eternally grateful to Him.

The longer one delays in taking that particular DECISION, having gotten a clear direction from God, the more one delays the MANIFESTATION of that ‘promised blessing’.

God’s GRACE is sufficient TO WALK THAT PATH AND RUN THAT RACE. You’ll definitely rejoice in the end. WHEN YOU HAVE HIS LEADING, YOU HAVE HIS FULL BACKING. SO ARISE AND OBEY THAT ‘HARD, BUT BEST YES”!

Isaiah 55:8-9: “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts”.

Be encouraged, GOD IS WORKING THINGS OUT IN YOUR FAVOUR.

God bless you.

Mindset : The Turn Around

12 Simple Steps to Waking Up Happier and More Positive

Having lived a life of guilt for years, it was a load too heavy. I could not afford to bear this burden for the rest of my life.

New years as we know are usually a time for resolutions, a time to change for good, 1st January 2012 was that time for me. But this time I choose a different type of resolution which was to let go of all the guilt, stop blaming God and open up to Him for Him to do that He has planned for me. This was the turning point for me.

For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you, ‘says the LORD, ‘plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster, to give you a future and hope. -Jeremiah 29:11 AMP

This turning point brought about a consciousness and a change of mindset. Over the years I have come to realize that mindset plays a major role in every area of the human life most especially in identity (I will talk about this some other time).

In the movie ‘Overcomer by the Kendrick Brothers’, Thomas Hill tells his daughter while coaching her that ‘victory or defeat happens in the mind first’. This means if we will have victory, we must have had the victory already in our minds.

How long have you been on that project? How long have you been on this present stage in your life, career? You had goals, what’s up with them? These questions are almost unavoidable but the major question is, What is the state of your mind? How developed is your mind? How positive is your mind?

Work on your mindset first, and everything will change for good. Do not get defeated in your mind first, WIN. Then your actions will bring the victory to manifestation.

The danger in shutting your teens out!

Read that title repeatedly till it sinks in. We live in a fast-paced world, and if you, being a Christian parent, have the goal to model teens sold out to God, you cannot afford to leave things to chance.

I’ll tell you a story. Rhema (not real name) is one of the teens under my tutelage. We were discussing on a cool morning, and she made a statement that made my heart so heavy. She said she couldn’t tell her mother certain things because she will misconstrue everything and turn it against her. According to her, her mother sometimes turns a counselling session into bouts of shouts and accusations. Her mother’s reaction made her confide in her spiritual father instead.

You can imagine a parent calling her daughter ‘queen of lesbians’ just because of her assumptions. This is a girl trying everything she can to be in her mother’s good book. As confused as she is about many things: choice of career, relationships and others, she cannot confidently talk to either of her parents for fear of them blowing things out of proportion.

My concern is the spiritual father, not with the news of child molestation making rounds in the world. We cannot always be with them all the time, but the little time we get to spend with them should be highly utilized to instil strong morals in them.

Well, I wouldn’t know the mother’s pattern of raising her children, and I am not in any place of authority to question it. But, what I want to bring out of her statement is the need, the high need for parents, caregivers and guardians to leave an open door for their kids to relate with them.

Shutting them out will only do one thing, expose them to outside influence, which might be detrimental to their development. I discuss a lot of things with my teens. Sometimes, I deliberately start conversations on issues they can’t comfortably discuss.

Except you want the world to help you do what you ought to do, then you do know better than to silence them away when they come with their barrel of questions. You don’t act paranoid when they bring stories of boys and girls engaging in boyfriend/girlfriend relationships. Instead, use such discussion to educate them on what they should prioritize at this stage of their lives.

I serve in a teenage church and periodically bring up seminars around topical issues like relationships. We listen to all their rants and misconceptions about relationships. There is no better way to know what belief system they hold dear if they don’t let it off their chest. And so, when they say their mind, we guide them with the word of God. Sometimes, they make faces like they swallowed some bitter pill, but the message has been passed.

This is a clarion call, be your child’s best friend. Let them bring all the dirty and not so dirty stories. Sieve them and enlighten them through those stories. We are trying to guide against them getting non-valid information from the wrong sources: something you could have done yourself and that better.

There is a great danger if your child gets counsel from their peers. Those peers are trying to figure out life the same way that child is trying to. What counsel can they possibly give? This is the reason you must be very deliberate on your child’s upbringing. You don’t leave it to chance.

Be very deliberate about it. Be a trustworthy source of information. Don’t shy away from any topic. Would you please do your research and get ready for them because they sure will bombard you with questions?

You’ve got a lot of experience while growing up. However good or bad it is, use those experiences to guide them right!

Do all of these, but do not make them regret coming to confide in you in the first place. Do not!

THE INNER EYE

God is a master architect. Just take a look at yourself and tell me if anyone can create something as beautiful as you from absolutely nothing? You are a unique creation, albeit, with limitations. This limitation does not make God any less perfect, rather, it makes you realize that there is more to what you see.

The eye is strategically positioned to enable you see. Yet, you cannot see beyond your nose. There is a divine reason for this. Been human is just a part of who we are. We are made of more. Often, we fail to seek for that “more” and instead rush into things that are counterproductive. We look ahead into the lives of others, eager to correct, criticize or demean. What we rightly see in others may be in us in a lethal dose. That is why we need the inner eye.

Our inner eye is the “more” factor. It is the camera into our soul that gives us the privilege to see ourselves in 7D. The inner eye tells us when we need to visit the character doctor or the cleansing pharmacy. The inner eye dispenses the right dose of compassion that we need to relate with others.

Matthew 7:3-5 (New International Version)

3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

As long as we operate with the physical eye, we will always question why we cannot get along well with others. Connect the physical with the divine. Work on yourself. Take time to X-ray your life. Then, you will be equipped to impact others.

Lessons from the temptation – Part 1

What is temptation?

It is the desire to do something, especially something wrong or unwise.

Google

Have you ever wondered why it is when you are on a spiritual exercise that you are tempted the most or when there is a conviction in your heart regarding something that the temptation seems to be at the highest?

So let me share a personal story which will resonate with so many here. I notice that when I am either on a fast or on a prayer program, I become sensitive and it also looks like that’s the right time for my husband and my children to get on my nerve. Or is it when I choose to avoid some foods? The foods are suddenly what is the most available at home.

Another one I can remember is when I got engaged to my then boyfriend, it looked like the the tap of men were opened as well. Not like I didn’t have “toasters” (like we call it in Nigeria) before but they suddenly became so many and to make matters even more tempting and difficult, they were loaded. (If you understand what I mean)

Now these are my personal experiences and I am sure some of you also have experienced them too. Any witness in the house?

One other person who experienced temptation is Jesus. Just imagine this, after fasting for forty days and forty nights, how would you feel? You will be very hungry no doubt and guess what, that is what the devil used to tempt Jesus first.

So temptation isn’t something that happens only when you are an unbeliever, it only becomes more obvious when you become one. For instance, when you weren’t a believer, there was always the temptation to let’s say speak bad about someone and during this time, you do not give it a second thought and gladly engage in it. However, now that you are a believer and knowing very well that it’s wrong to do that; you have to deal with the choice of giving in to it or not.

Now see, in both instances, you knew it was wrong. But in the latter, you understand and know that there are godly consequences for it of which in the former, you knew there were but you just didn’t care. So the temptations you experience now as a believer are not new. You’ve always been tempted all along.

So going forward, what will be your attitude towards temptation? You have to look forward to part two of this series.
